Formerly Billboards For Life
Family Life Billboards, formerly known as Billboards for Life, began operations in early 1995 as a non-profit tax-exempt lay apostolate called Catholics for Children, Inc., formed by St. Martin of Tours parishioners in the Louisville, KY Archdiocese. John DeFriend, the founder of the group, approached Fr. Dennis Cousens in 1994, requesting a letter of introduction to other pastors in the Archdiocese, asking their support for a fund-raising campaign to post pro-life billboards around town. From this letter, Billboards for Life began and has served the Louisville, KY and Southern Indiana area for almost 30 years. John and his late wife Judy sacrificed countless hours each year going to as many parishes that would allow to spread the pro-life message of hope, help, and charity for the voiceless. With Judy’s health issues, and subsequent passing in 2018, it was time to hand the keys over to a younger generation.
